Background

During recent years, me and my friends have had opportunities to go to concerts of our favourite artists, but due to our lack of knowledge of their performances, some of our greatest experiences have been cut from our lives.

Target Audience

Music enthusiast
Individuals who want to attend concerts
Fans of specific artists

What is the Problem?

Fans of music artists that are near will miss the opportunity to see their favourite artists

Evident in more smaller underground artists due to the lack of gossip or popularity

Leads to no tickets available, expensive resells, or bad seatings

Solution

Help people track, notify, and discover artists they may be interested in

User Research

To understand how people miss out on an artist's concert, I conducted several interviews to understand their experience when participating in a concert. (5 participates)

The aim was to understand:

How do they know an artist is coming?

The process and thoughts on buying a ticket
Their expectations and results
Past experiences

Here is what I discovered:

Most people discover it through friends
Social media advertising
Unaware of certain concerts
“I didn’t know”, when asked why they didn't attend

Buying a ticket is frustrating and time consuming
People become stressed when they realise tickets are already selling
Expect to buy enough tickets for friends
Willing to buy overpriced tickets for experience

Fear of missing out
Concerts bring joy, getting a chance to meet an artist live

From the following insights, I have discovered the following pain points:

Individuals are unaware of artists performing
Individuals want to buy a specific number of tickets at a fair price
Individuals are open to going to more concerts

To get into the mindset of what a person usually experiences, a journey map was made to define the process of going to a concert based on user research.

During user research, many participants expressed their joy in attending concerts and their eagerness to find any upcoming performances.

So how can we give users more chances to attend concerts?

Show them new artists they may like and consider going

The problem with individuals not knowing an artist is simply because they don't know their music.

Especially with many indie and underground artists not having a clear representation of their music, there had to be a way to showcase themselves to the individuals. With the trending use of short-form media like Youtube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and Tik Tok.
